Infant Baptism...
A Gift to the Community

"We felt so welcomed and had a great time.  We feel so good about everything and tonight just re-confirmed why the Casa is the perfect community to welcome our child into our faith.  We are so excited!"    Katie Nowak

OLA Baptism Policy

Welcome to Our Lady of the Angels Baptism Preparation Program

Picture
Baptism is a monumental time in your family's life!
Whether your child is a newborn, a toddler or in kindergarten,
Our Lady of the Angels is here to walk with you on this
spiritual journey and in the coming years as your child grows in faith.

Baptisms are celebrated during weekend liturgies throughout the year.
Your child is being brought into the family of God, what better
witness than your own family, friends and community!

What are the requirements?

  • Attend the parent orientation held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm.
  • Register as a member of Our Lady of the Angels. Forms are available at the front desk.
  • Complete the Baptism Information Sheet. Forms are available at the orientation or by contacting the Family Catechesis Office.
  • Have at least one godparent who is a fully initiated, practicing Catholic over the age of 16.
  • Schedule the baptism date.
  • Attend the "Signs & Symbols" Parent Baptism Preparation Class held  the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm.

What about Godparents?

To be a Godparent one must:
  • Be a fully initiated (baptism, confirmation, Eucharist) Catholic (parents are not allowed to be godparents)
  • Be an active member of a Catholic faith community
  • Be at least 16 years old

When choosing a Godparent it might be helpful to consider the following:
  • Is this person actively practicing their faith?
  • Does he or she regularly participate in Sunday Eucharist?
  • Does this person live close enough to play an integral role in my child's faith formation?
  • If they live far away will they be capable of fulfilling these responsibilities long distance? (Technology, computers, web cams, email, all can help in building and maintaining this relationship).
